Shore Staff
Shore Staff facilitate our rental operations and support lessons, tours & events.
Please note: This position is physically demanding. Candidates must be capable of carrying paddleboards and fairly heavy kayaks with assistance. Toronto SUP & Kayak is located on a busy public beach with very limited options for shelter. Staff are required to dress appropriately for weather conditions and are expected to work outdoors for the duration of their shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responding to customer inquiries & providing information about our company and services.
- Assisting customers with reservations in-person and over the phone.
- Greeting customers as they arrive, providing on-shore safety briefings and ensuring that customers have all of the required safety equipment.
- Carrying SUPs and kayaks with assistance.
- Assisting instructors and guides with set-up and break-down of equipment for lessons and tours.
- Cleaning SUPs and kayaks between rentals and examining vessels for damage or missing components.
- Assisting with start-of-day opening procedures & site set-up and/or end-of-day tear down and pack-up.
- Keeping our premises and equipment clean and organized.
- Assist with digital and social media promotions.
- Utilizing booking software and point-of-sale systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who have the following qualifications:
- Positive and friendly attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Enthusiastic about learning, participating in and promoting recreational paddlesports.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong swimming skills.
- Enjoys spending lots of time outdoors.
- Able to carry paddleboards and kayaks with assistance and perform other physically demanding tasks.
- First Aid or Lifeguard Certification (If you do not have a valid First-Aid certification you will be required to get your First Aid certification prior to your first shift if accepted for the position).
- Paddle Canada accreditations are not required, but an asset.
Schedule
Toronto SUP & Kayak is open to the public from June 1 to September 28 each season, with some Shore Staff positions beginning, June 1st, June 15th and July 1.
Full-Time & Part-Time positions are currently available.
Compensation
- $15.50 to $16.25 per hour.
